💧Kabingo Gravity Flow Water Project – Uganda
When you choose to give, you become part of something bigger—something powerful
The Kabingo Gravity Flow Water Project, led by SMVA Trust, is designed to bring this natural resource directly to the villages below — creating reliable access to clean water for the community.
High in the Rwenzori Mountains of western Uganda, fresh water flows naturally from mountain springs. Yet only a few kilometers away in Kabingo Sub-County, many families still struggle each day to access safe drinking water.
From Mountain Springs to Village Homes
A Sustainable Solution
The project establishes a gravity-based water system, allowing water to flow naturally without the need for pumps or electricity.
The system includes:
A 7-kilometer pipeline network
Break pressure tanks for flow regulation
Public tap stands for community access
Distribution points serving both school and village use
Designed in coordination with district engineers, the system is built to be durable, efficient, and sustainable .
Clean water, lasting change.

Implementation & Collaboration
This initiative is being implemented by SMVA Trust in collaboration with:
PARC-Uganda
Kasese District Local Government
Local community members
An official work permit has been issued authorizing SMVA Trust and its partners to execute the project under district supervision .
Community participation is central to the effort:
Villagers are contributing labor for trench excavation
Local coordination supports day-to-day implementation
Ongoing involvement ensures long-term sustainability
Project Status and requirement
The Kabingo Water Project is currently underway, with design and government approvals completed and construction in progress. Following the official announcement in February 2026, excavation work has already begun for the pipeline installation. The total estimated cost of the project is $186,000, with SMVA Trust having already funded the initial phases, including design, permitting, and early construction. Additional support is now needed to complete the remaining infrastructure, including pipeline installation, storage systems, and final distribution points.
Why This Matters
Access to clean water is essential for everyday life. It supports safe drinking water, enables the preparation of school meals, improves hygiene and sanitation, and reduces the daily burden on families. This project will provide a reliable, long-term water source for both Shine Preparatory School and the wider Kabingo community, creating lasting impact for years to come.
Building on Experience & Support
Building on experience from 35+ water access projects in India, SMVA Trust continues to extend these efforts through sustainable, community-based solutions. This initiative is already in motion, and continued support will help bring it to completion — ensuring clean water reaches every household it is intended to serve.
