SMVA Free Eye Camp & Tree Plantation, Medchal, Telangana June 7–8, 2025

Overview

On the weekend of June 7–8, SMVA Trust’s Karuna Seva team returned to Medchal, Telangana, to deliver vital eye care alongside an environmental initiative. Inspired by Amma Sri Karunamayi’s vision, we combined preventive vision screenings with a tree-planting drive—nurturing both human health and the local ecosystem.

Free Eye Camp Highlights

  • 100 comprehensive vision screenings for infants through elders

  • 70 free prescription spectacles dispensed on-site

  • 21 cataract and refractive surgeries scheduled at no cost to patients

  • Personalized vision counseling, covering eye hygiene, nutritional guidance, and follow-up protocols

Each visitor met with our volunteer optometrists to review results and receive tailored advice. New spectacles were fitted immediately, restoring clear sight for students and seniors alike.

Tree Plantation Drive

Immediately after the eye camp, our volunteers and local helpers planted 20 saplings—primarily neem and other native species—along the facility’s driveway. In years to come, these trees will provide shade, improve air quality, and beautify Medchal’s streetscape.

Special Acknowledgment

A heartfelt thank-you to Sarada Chiruvolu Garu, whose generous sponsorship covered all spectacle costs and logistical support. We’re also grateful to the Medchal village council and community volunteers for their seamless coordination and warm hospitality.
